Stroud Life & David Drew MP 3rd March 2010 Pt 1.mpg

In the blog I didn't mention the photo of Drew and company at the opening of the Stroud College autocad department. I also didn't mention the mp's column on "Engineering" in the Journal where he gave a brief lecture and guided tour of the engineering exhibitions going on in various parts of the country at this time. On this topic I'll just list a few names which should indicate what the Labour Party have done with engineering in our country. Renishaw PLC sacked 314 employees recently. Dyson-moved manufacturing to Malaysia & Brasil, Knorr Bremse, Kingswood Bristol moved their press plant to Hungary. Cadburys of Keynsham-manufacturing likely to go to Poland before long.Corus Steel in the north east closed recently. 1200 people to lose their jobs. Timex in Scotland closed down. Mulberry & Barbour products made overseas. No British run large scale car manufacturer. All foreign owned. All utilities foreign owned. Nuclear manufacturing sold to the Americans recently. Omega Recruitment PLC, with offices in Stonehouse, also have offices in Eastern Europe (Poland) where they recruit engineering staff for local firms like Fluid Transfer Ltd in Nailsworth. Support for engineering from the Labour Government?? In your dreams!!
